At last week’s Presidential debate in Colorado, President Barack Obama fended off a series of strong attacks leveled by Republican nominee Mitt Romney assailing the Government’s policy subsidizing green energy, explains Jay Katari, a Florida businessman and recycling entrepreneur.  This issue came up several times during the debate when former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney cited subsidies to Solyndra, Fisker, Tesla and Ener1 as examples of the federal government picking winners and losers, which mostly ended up being losers as these companies failed to pay back loan guarantees and come through on their ambitious promises, says Jay Katari.

Jay Katari on Philanthropy

I am a firm believer in giving back. I have been very fortunate to have a successful business. Each year I donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to worthwhile 501(c)3charities. My company is committed to giving back to the communities we serve. Just last year I helped organize a fundraiser for a widowed mom in Boca Raton to help with the needs of her son who is in a coma. Each year my wife and I make a considerable donation of money and in-kind donations to the Florence Fuller Center of Boca Raton.
